Lies & Trust Issues

Author’s Note:  In this piece I will explain the theme of the book Dark Secrets by Elizabeth Chandler. Also, how this book reminds me of another book I’ve read that have similar themes.

There are people out there that have told lies and some people that have lost their trust to their close ones. The story Dark Secrets by Elizabeth Chandler, is exactly how the characters are to one another. Lies and trust issues are one of the major themes in this book. Throughout the book the authors tells the reader that lying to people can lose their trust towards people  and create a separation to the ones that are close to you.

Lauren, who is one of the main characters in the book, has gone through so much by the people she loves. She has gone through sleepless nights, being scared, and confused just because of her Aunt and cousins. You can really see how lies becomes one of the major theme in the book  when Lauren knew that there was something that her family weren’t telling her about her mother’s death, all they would say to her was that it was accident. Later she finds out that her mother had drowned in the lake. She couldn’t help but wonder  why they would lie to her face like that and didn’t tell her that is what really happened to her mother. Even today there are people that keep secrets from one  another that shouldn’t be kept as secret. That can affect the person a lot and their behavior.

Not only are people lying, but there are people that would  that can’t even trust  people that are really close to them. That’s just how Lauren felt when she got a note saying “You’re Next” on her car after she was in cemetery, she didn’t want to believe what that really meant. Also, while she was driving, out of nowhere there was a huge brick that hit the tire of her car and she got into a awful accident. She knew that there was someone out there to get her. Everyone made her feel like she was crazy. Now Lauren couldn’t trust anyone, It could have been anyone of them trying to get Lauren. There was no one that she could trust with anything anymore, she felt like she was all alone now.

The theme of this book reminds me of the book Pretty Little Liars by Sara Shepard. Both books have similar themes of lies and trust issues because in the book the four girls had a friend that was murdered and they knew someone in their community had something to do with her murder but, someone is just lying to them about the whole thing. They also knew that they couldn’t trust or become close to anyone because they are getting blackmailed by a person that goes by the name “A”, who leaves them text messages and notes  that says all these stuff saying how they have to do something or something bad will happen to them.

Even though the theme in the book is lies and trust issues ,today this same issue goes around with people lying to each other and losing their trust with people. People don’t think it’s a big thing big thing but, this is one of the most common way people lose their trust with people is when they lie to them.

Story 3:15

Authors Note: In this piece I will explain what my prediction is in the story 3:15 and write what this book reminds me of. Also, I will tell how I think the ending of the story should go.

Everyone has that one teacher that they really do not like. And maybe there are some teacher's that can't stand some kids. The story 3:15 is about Mr. Mason who is a mean, old, and grumpy teacher who hates kid who are loud, noisy, and obnoxious. That is exactly how Troy, the new kid is. When Mr. Mason gave him that jar with the purple stuff in it I predicted that Troy would pass out when he smelled the purple thing in the jar because he looked a little lightheaded after he sniffed it, but my prediction was wrong, what really happened was that there was something in the jar that as soon as Troy took a small sniff of it took away his loudness and him being immature. I like what I predicted for an ending better because it would be interesting to see what the other people at school would say to him, but he wouldn’t know what they were talking about because he lost his memory. I predict that later in the story  that Troy will be a good student and a teacher’s pet. Then later he would slowly become like Dale because no one wants to talk to him or be his friend then he would become like a zombie.

There are a lot of hints in the story that tell that Troy most likely will end up like Dale. How he won’t talk to anyone and look depressed all the time. After Troy put the jar away from his face he started talking very maturely and being polite. Also, when Mr. Mason took the jar away from Troy he had a whole shelf of different jars with different names on different jars. You can predict that Mr. Mason has done this to many kids in the school and you can tell that Troy will end up like the other kids and won’t talk to anyone and no one would want to talk to him.

This story reminds me a lot of the book Matilda, by Roald Dahl, because the principal of the  school is also really mean and grumpy. Whenever she comes by the kids she senses off a feeling that gets the kids frightened by her and they get too scared to talk to her. Those are the same feeling the kids get when Mr. Mason is around too. Also, she hates kids who are really loud and immature and if there is a kid that gets on her nerve she will find a way to punish them somehow. That is how Mr. Mason will deal with kids too.

If the story happened the way I predicted, I think it will go like this. As he fainted on the floor you could hear a big thump out into the halls. Everyone was confused and scared and thinking what did Mr. Mason just done to Troy. As a couple hours went by Troy slowly got up, he was so confused on what just had happened and why he was on the floor. He carefully opened the door and he saw a bunch of people starting at him and people shouting "What happened to you"? "Oh my god he's still alive!?” "What did he do to you"? Troy had no idea what was going on and why people were shouting at him, he just ignored them and walked away. And from that day on, no one ever talked to him ever again. He was just another zombie at school just like Dale.

Character Analysis

Author's Note: I analysed the main character Brian in the book Hatchet by Gary Paulsen. And  explained how his character changed throughout the book. Also, how his character reminds me of another character in a book I've read.

The book Hatchet by Gary Paulsen is mainly about how a 13 year old boy named Brian is finally getting the chance the meet his father, since his parents got divorced, and since they got divorced he has been taking that really hard on himself. But, he never thought that going on this trip to meet his father would end up to be even worse. Next thing he knew the plane he was in had crashed because the pilot had a heart attack and he was in the middle of the woods all by himself. As he spent many lonely days in woods trying to find food, shelter, and warmth. He finds himself being more brave and thinking outside the box to make him survive in the woods.

While Brian was in the woods he knew he had no time to think about how upset he was about the divorce of his parents because he had to think about how to survive in the woods. He needed a fire going but didn’t know how to start one the beginning, this affected him a lot because he would be freezing at night and he would need a fire to cook food if he found any. He thought that someone would find him soon so he wouldn’t have to worry about how to make a fire. But, it’s been a while and one had found him so he knew he had to make a fire soon. He tried many things with paper, stones, and sticks but it didn’t work. He was very frustrated but, then he thought adding bark from a tree would work so he added some and lighted it up then next thing he knew he had a big fire going. He was so exited he yelled “Fire, I’ve got a fire!”

Now Brian had to find food for himself. He found many things like raw eggs, berries, and a lake for water, but he didn’t want to eat it because he didn’t know if it was safe to eat these things and that was affecting him because he was not eating and he needed something since he hasn’t eaten for a while. After two days of not eating anything Brian was starving and decided to eat a raw egg. He felt a lot better after eating that so we went to try some berries but the berries was to tart for him but, he had to keep eating them because he was too hungry.

Brian reminds me of the main character, Jane, in the book Fade by Lisa McMann. Since, Brian is all alone in the woods and on one knows that he is there and no one knows what he’s going through and it is hard for him to tell people that he is in the woods. This is similar to Jane because she has a problem when people are near  her and they are sleeping she atomically passes out and gets sucked into their dream. No one knows what she’s going through, they just think that she is just sleeping and she can’t tell anyone about it because people would think that she is crazy. And she feels like she is all alone and doesn’t know what to do.

For being in the woods for many days Brian had figured out many things to do easily like finding food, shelter, and warmth. Knowing that he would be here for awhile, he had to be more comfortable going out to find food and thinking of ways to make a fire so that he would survive. And as time went on he could find food anytime he wanted to and he could make a fire less in a hour. Brian was fine being in the woods because he was capable of getting what he needed. He had conquered his fears for being the woods for such a long period of time and now he isn’t as upset anymore about his parents being divorced.

Author’s Note:This is a short retelling of the book Fade by Lisa McMann. I use will use the skills I know to demonstrate my retelling knowledge.

But, she can't have her own dream and she has to live like that for the rest of her life.

America's Founding Fathers

Authors Note: In this piece I'll talk about what important history events the Founding Fathers have done for us and I would like to thank them for all they have done back then that had made our country  strong as it is today.

Back around the time 1776 there was a group of people that was known as the  Founding Fathers  and they basically found United States America. Without them our country wouldn't be where it is today. The Founding Fathers have done many important things back then that made our country strong and powerful  and I would like to thank them for what they all have done.

The Founding Fathers are the reason why we are here today. If it wasn’t for them we wouldn’t be here. They’re the ones that basically found United States of America and they also helped with the signing of the Declaration of Independence. If they weren’t apart of the Declaration of Independence and made some of the laws today it probably would change and be completely different.

Not only did they find United States and sign the Declaration of Independence they’re also the ones that wrote the Bills Right. Which had made our country closer together. For example, Freedom of speech and religion that had made many citizens in the U.S  come together and respect one another for who they’re and where they came from. Freedom of speech allows people to speak what their option is let them have their time to say what they have been wanting to say.

As they signed the Bill of rights they have also been involved in another signing which was the U.S Constitution. They had signed because the Bill of Rights fall into the U.S Constitution, the U.S Constitution is a supreme law that states the rules and powers the federal government have. The Bill of Rights is part of the U.S Constitution that had made our government better and how rules and powers make it a better society.

Even though they have done all of these things for our country a long time ago they had done so much for our country to make it a free and powerful. Their faces even ended up on the money and coins we use today  to show what great things the Founding Fathers have done for our country the Unites States of America.

Hatchet

Minha
Cause/effect

Authors Note: I'm have identify what the cause and the effect is in the book Hatchet. And explain If the cause change how the effect would also change.

The book Hatchet is a person vs self because after he got in a plane crash into the middle of the woods and the pilot had a heart attack and he had survive in the woods with very little supplies. The cause of the book is when the the pilot has a heart attack and had crashed the plane into the middle of the woods.

The effect would be that since the plane had crashed into the woods Brian has to try to survive in the woods all by himself. And find shelter, food and warmth. If the cause did change the pilot wouldn't have a heart attack and then Brian wouldn't end up in the woods all by himself and he wouldn't have to try to survive in the woods.

Cause/Effect

Minha
Cause/Effect
Does My Head Look Big In This?
Author: Randa  Abdel-Fattah

Authors Note: I wrote the cause and the effect about the book Does My Head Look Big In This? And explained  how the cause led to effect in the book and how the cause and the effect would change is the story changed.

The book Does My Head Look Big In This is a person vs.society because it's about a Muslim teenage girl who is deciding to take hijab (to cover their hair with a scarf) she wants to do it but she doesn’t want other people to think that she is weird or treat her differently than she is already treated. She knows that is the right thing to do but she is to scared and confused on whether or not to do it or not.

The main effect in the book is that she took the scarf and she embraced her religion and now the cause is that people are looking at her weird and acting different to her. She tries to keep strong while people are treating her differently. If the story changed then the effect wouldn’t be the same because then the cause wouldn’t have the people treating her differently and giving her a hard time.

Going To The Brewers Game

Author's Note: Experiencing different things for the first time can be either the worst thing ever or the best thing you ever done. My first time going to the Brewers Game was the best time I ever had.

It was the day that my sister turned 19. My sister, my 2 cousins, and I decided to go to the Brewers Game. Just a regular day going to the baseball game, but this was my first time going and I had such a great time for me to remember this amazing day.

Right as I woke up right there in my face was my sister yelling at me “Wake up!” on her birthday. I was annoyed at her for waking me up, but it was her birthday so I let it go. She said that we were going to the Brewers Game. I was really excited because this was my first time going to a Brewers Game. Since it was my first time going we decided to go all out. We wore “Teach Me How To Bernie” T-shirts, hats, and wore blue and yellow necklaces. I was all ready for the game.

As soon as we got there I was already annoyed, there was so much traffic it took us about 15 to 20 minutes just to find parking. Luckily we got a spot that was really close to the entrance. Then right when we walked in there was a big smile across my face. It was so exciting to see all the players on the field playing and the good thing was that we got really nice seats too which made my experience even better.

While the game was going I had no idea what was going on, but it was really exciting to see the players playing throwing the ball and making  homeruns. Later during the game my cousin had two tickets to the NYCE Club so my friend and I went there while my cousin and my sister went to the Dew Deck. As soon as I step foot into the NYCE Club I felt as I were a celebrity. Only people with the tickets could get in and there was a buffet special with a whole row of different desserts. With these high tables and chairs which we sat on. Of course we decided to order something because we were the only teenagers there and we had waitresses serving us.

When we were up there watching the game from a huge majestic view we ordered dessert. We got this chocolate chip cookie with vanilla ice, warm fudge, and caramel drizzled on top. It was amazing plus, seeing the whole game from a amazing view we got.

Going to the Brewers Game and experiencing  that for the first time was incredible. That was definitely one the most fun I had at a game. My first time going to the Brewers Game was something I’ll never forget.

Conflict Story

Minha
Title: Dream
Author: Lisa McMann

Authors Note: I read this book called Dream by Lisa Mcmann. And I've identity the main conflict in the book and if it resolved or not.

The book Dream main conflict is that the main character,Jane can never have her own dreams. She keeps getting sucked into other people dreams and she is able to see their dream. Every time she wakes up from a dream her body goes all numb, her vision gets blurry, and she gets very sick. The Road Trip

Author's Note:When you go on a road trip you expect that everything will be fine. But, this road trip literally took a unexpected turn.

Just  like any other summer vacation my cousins and I decided to take a road trip to Ohio to meet my cousin.  This started out like a normal road trip we played music, talked, and played games such as I Spy and finishing the sentence game. We also, made a  few stops on the way, however this stop was not like any other stop we made before.  By this time we wouldn't make to Ohio until the next day. This road trip was the best and the worst trip ever!

While we were driving we were blasting the music and having a good time. Until we felt the car started to wobble then we noticed that the tire was wobbling. My cousin went to the gas station to more air pressure in the tire and we thought that the tire was fine so, we kept driving and had nothing to worry about.

As we were driving  the A/C  just suddenly stopped working we started to get a little hot, but it was only a couple more hours until we reach Ohio. We felt the tire was starting to get wobbly again we thought we would be fine until we make to the next exit. Then all of a sudden BOOM! My cousin tried to handle the car to the side of the highway then the next thing we know our tire literally exploded on the highway in Indiana. But, Luckily we had a spare tire, however we had no idea to get it out. After a half an hour later of attempting  to get the tire out we finally called the state cop. Which was no help out all while we were standing outside in burning hot outside she was just sitting inside in her cool A/C car. Meanwhile, she finally became useful and gave us a card for a towing truck after 2 hours.

When we saw the tow truck was coming we never thought we would be so happy to see that.  As the towing truck person finished we quickly jumped into the car and drove off. We got to Ohio at 1:00 A.M we were all very tired and just wanted to sleep. The next day we went to Cedar point even though it was still really hot outside it was really nice just to see my cousin and go on rollercoaster’s with her and everybody else.

The worst part of this was waiting outside in the hot for hours and the best was seeing my cousin and spending time with everybody. This is a road trip I’m never going to forget.

Being The Youngest

Author's Note: I love my family, but sometimes I wish that I could the oldest in my family or even have a younger sibling. But, you can't always get want you want.

I have a big family, but unfortunately I’m the youngest in my family. Being the youngest in family has its advantages and disadvantages. For example since I’m the youngest I get a little more spoiled than my brothers and sister. And I also get a little more attention from my parents.

Just as fun it is to be a little spoiled and get more attention there are some things that isn’t so fun being the youngest. Since my brothers and sister are older than 16 they can go drive wherever whenever they want and since I can’t drive yet which can be the bad part of being the youngest you can’t go out and do as much till you start driving.

Another reason is that if we move to house with not enough bedrooms I’m the one that will most likely end up sharing a room with my sister. Just as much I love my family it sometimes can be annoying to be the youngest of them all.

Things That Get Me Annoyed/Mad

Authors's Note: There are going to be people out there that you're going to hate. But, you need to ignore them and live life. However there are things that you will really bother and make you mad and you can't just stand it anymore.

There are many things out there that I like and love. However there are some things that can get me annoyed and mad.  For example when people talk with food in their mouth. When I’m eating I don't want to see people chewing up their food in their mouth. I also hate two faced people who will act one way in front of someone and act the totally opposite in front of someone else. Mostly people who are really fake and not themselves really bother me.

Happiness

Author's Note: They're people that get happy, sad, angry, and depressed. But, there will always be people that will always have a smile on my their face and being positive and spreading their happiness to others.

Happiness is everywhere, people who have happiness are like the sun always bright and always have a smile on their face. But, happiness isn’t just being happy but, having positive energy and not thinking about the negative things happening. Happiness isn’t just keeping yourself happy and positive but, just by giving a smile to a random person on the street that could have made someone's day just by giving a smile. Happiness is very effective.

Things I Can't Live Without

Author's Note: Many people have many things that they use every single day but, there are some things that we always need everyday and if we don't have they they feel empty.

There are many things that I have in my life that I’m grateful for but, one thing that I absolutely need in my life that cannot live without is my laptop. I go on my laptop a lot and I’m so used to it and if i didn't have it I don't know how I would be able to live without it. Also, I can’t live without my phone, my phone isn't  my life but its just something that I always by my side. Without my phone I would feel like something is missing all the time.

Judging People

Author's Note: Many kids are judged by their appearance and people don't know what might have happened to them. Then they start to lower their expectations but, just because some people are a little different than others doesn't mean that they can't do as much as others.

Everyday there are  kids that are bullied, insulted, and judged by their appearance. Just like Martin from the book, Face by, Benjamin Zephaniah, he was a typical teenage boy. He was going to school, he hung out with his friends, but that all changed after he was in a terrible car crash. This book gives a good message to readers to treat others the way you want  to be treated.

Martin was just a regular teenage boy that was going to school. He wouldn't get in a lot of trouble but when he would it would usually be with his friends which they are known as "The Gang of Three". His and his friends would always hang out and play pranks on other people. Martin wouldn’t get into serious trouble or situations. However one day after he got into a terrible car crash his life completely changed after that.

There so many people that judge people with even knowing them or what might have what happened to them and that’s how most of the people treated Martin.. After the accident Martin’s face completely changed his face was bright red in some places and had  brown spots also white bits that looked like flesh but with no skin. When people saw the way Martin looked they gave weird looks and his friends became more distant from him. When people get into accidents If they are going have some injuries but they can't help the way they turn out to look like at the end. If I was Martin’s friends  I wouldn’t ignore him just because of the way he looks I  would help and support him.

While Martin was in the hospital he had a gymnastics competition to practice for and after he got released from the hospital he practiced non-stop. He wouldn’t let the way he looked and the people making fun him get in his way. I can relate to Martin in this situation because I bet there are some people that  judge me just because of the way I dress, but I didn't let the way people look at me from stop me from my beliefs. Just like Martin even though his face was not normal he still accomplished to get 3rd place and after losing all of his friends and listening to those people that made fun of him he still worked hard and practiced for what he believed in and didn’t let anyone get in the way of that. Just because some people are a little different than others that still means that they should do whatever they want and should get the same amount of respect like everybody else.

Dreams

Author's Note: Everyone has dreams and sometimes people good dreams and some people have bad dreams. But, what if you every time you go to sleep you can't dream? You would always get sucked in to another persons dream.

Many people have dreams each and every night. But, the character Janie from the book Wake, by Lisa McMann, rarely gets to have her own dream, she can see other people’s dream but doesn’t get to have her own dream. Every night when she goes to sleep she is sucked into someone’s dream.. Seeing other people's dream would be unusual and odd to experience.

Dreams, are images, emotions, and stories that occur while you're sleeping. Some people might have scary or some might have  nice and some dreams might not make any sense. But, everybody has them. However, what if that didn’t happen anymore and you started seeing other people dreams? That's what happened to Janie she kept seeing other people's dreams and she would freakout. If I started to see other people’s dream that would be a little hard to figure out. Besides, how would know if it’s your dream or not because you can’t control your dreams they just appear. You would just think that you're having a normal dream and wouldn't really think about your dream

Although If I knew I was seeing other people dreams when I go to sleep then I would be confused on how that happens and wouldn’t know what to do. I would be a little scared how Janie was and be a little confused. Then I would keep wondering who dreams I keep seeing and it would be a little hard to fall asleep when you know you’re going to see another person’s dream.

Everybody has their dreams, some people have sweet dreams and some people have bad dreams but, in Janie’s situation she doesn’t have any dreams of her own at all. Being in Janie situation seems pretty rough to be in because every time she goes to sleep she can’t go to sleep peacefully. But, at least we have dreams and can’t see anyone else’s dream besides ours because it would be a little odd to see what other people dream about at night.

Making Choices

Author's Note: Everybody makes simple choices every single day but, what if that one day that changed. Your being put on the spot and being influenced to do the wrong thing what what would you do then?

Many kids and even adults are tempted to do bunch of things that they are not supposed to do such as, kid’s parents telling them not to do certain things. In some situations, people force kids into doing something bad that confusing them and they don’t what to do in that kind of situation and become frightened. The book My Name is Mina, by David Almond, persuades readers on how making the right choices can be the greatest decision you could ever make.

People around the world are making wrong and bad decisions each and everyday. Some people realize what they are doing wrong and some people don’t even realize what they are doing. Just like kids, adults are also making decisions that are hurting themselves and the people around them. Once someone makes a wrong choice they will regret for the rest of their life and become more impressionable on making the wrong choices.

On the other hand, making regretful choices is mostly caused by peer pressure. Peer pressure is most common on kids and adults but, peer pressure can be in a helpful way like helping others to make their life better and yourself  in a more encouraging way. However peer pressure can as well be a terrible situation in your life, people forcing you the way you are and telling  what you do. Being in this type of situation can be very terrifying, you just have to be true to yourself and never forget the real you.

Numerous numbers people make about one-thousand decisions a day. Except when it comes to making a critical decision like peer pressure or another situation, just remember make sure the choice you make, you will not regret it later in you life. Furthermore that choice will make you life better and easier.

Sunset

Author's Note : People love to see art work at the museum and they really take their time to look at it. But, some people just look at them and walk away and doesn't think what the painting really means.

You can see sun  starting to set and you can the waves of the lake moving the the wind while the sun’s light is reflection on the lake. As the sun slowly sets you can also see the shadows of the trees getting bigger and bigger. While the sun is setting it’s making the sky an orange and red color. The sun is setting and everything is getting darker and darker the shadows are slowly going away. Now everything is dark and now there is a bright moon in the sky with small shiny stars.

Times Square

Author's Note: Everybody knows how crazy and fun time square look like. Many people would love it get a opportunity to go and  see time square right in front of them.

When I see this picture of Times Square I see it is being really loud and there are a bunch of people  everywhere and you can hear the taxi's and cars honking at each other all night long. And the bright lights are flashing everywhere. There are also huge lines outside of stores and restaurants.  But, it look likes really fun to be there in time square and see all of the places and the lights they have. Just to experience how the feeling is to actually be in Times Square seems like a rush of excitement to be there.

Flowers

Author's Note: Lot of people don't think how useful and important flowers are. There are lot of reasons how useful flowers are.

Their bright and colorful, they can make a room come more alive. They can make put a smile on a person’s face and they look beautiful outside while they have water drops on them and the sun is shining on them. Flowers are beautiful to have in your house and in gardens and their not just decorations  to have in house or make someone  happy but the are also a home to some small incests and food to insects too and helps them for long time.
But, flowers doesn’t stay the same forever. As the seasons start to change they start to dry up and then it  crumbles and  falls to floor like the orange leaves fall to the ground during Autumn. While people can’t get beautiful flowers anymore the small insects loose their home. The flowers are piled with snow and they cant get through that and some bugs like bees get honey from their and if we didn't have any flowers then we couldn’t survive, flowers is one main reason why we are here today.
There are a lot of reasons why flowers are important to everyone and insects too. They are really important to have in our life and they can help a lot in different situations. Flowers are much more useful than people really think they are.

Perfume

Author's Note: Lot of people buy a lot of stuff and use it all the time and some people buy stuff and never use them. But, do people ever wonder the point of view of the items they buy?

Everybody is running, people are  going crazy. There are huge sales everywhere. I see a bunch of people coming towards me. The customers are testing samples of me, my smell is spreading all around the room.Everybody loves me. I’m the newest bottle of perfume that just came out and people are buying me like crazy. Finally when a girl buys me I go off away from the store and go to her home to get used everyday!
While I’m in the car I can feel the car bouncing up and down from the bumps on the road, good thing I’m all packed safe in a box. We park in to garage she grabs me and runs out of the car and up to her room as fast as she can. She carefully opened me and her face lit up like a christmas tree she was so happy to see me.She took me out of the box and took  my lid she sprays me all over her body with a big grin on her face. Then she carefully put me back and as she walk down stairs I can hear her family giving complements on her new perfume. “Is that all” I said to my self. “Is that all I get to do"? I have to wait here the next day when she comes back to spray me on again”?
Later that night I kept thinking to my self that is that really all I  do just spray her with my good smelling perfume? I just couldn’t believe that is what all I can do. But as I kept thinking I finally got an answer that I’m reason that brings a smile on her face every single day when she uses me. And that makes me feel good every single day.
