Trojan War

Author’s Note: In this piece I will explain the modern version of the Trojan war and the original text and what the differences and similarities in both of the stories. Also, why they made the changes in the modern version.

Back during  the Trojan War it was much more serious than the modern version of the Trojan War story. Not only it was serious but they also had some parts in it that made it seem to be more of a fictional story. In the original story they mainly focused on how the Greeks left this huge horse on the Trojans land as a gift but they didn’t know what it was and were upset by it “Let’s poke this wretched Greek spy with our bronze Spears until he tells us what this Greek gift is all about!”they were really upset by  .

Since they made the original more serious they made the characters in the modern story like how some of the characters are in the movies are today. In the modern version Ares wanted to have a war but instead of having a real war they would play war and pick out people to be on their team. All of the characters  in the modern text were the kind of people that you would see in the movie. For example Hera was the they type of girl that would be a housewife and having the husband doing all the work and the things she would say about him ”Where'd my good for nothing husband run off to?” they never really had a good connection. And there are many people today that can relate that  Hera position is in the modern text. I feel like they made the changes because they wanted to show how they characters would act if they were going to be in today’s society and see what person would be the what character and make it more entertaining for the readers In the original version she was very powerful and people would give her a lot of respect.

Even though they made some changes to make it more modern, one thing that stayed the same in both of the version is how they both were be upset at each other and the only option to get over this was violence. Even though in the modern version they were just playing a game they still wanted to go against each and have a battle. I think that they made a good remake from the original because they made it as it were a movie and added type of characters that movies would typically have. And even though they made up more things to make more modern I feel like it still is true to the original because it still has the whole main idea of why they were upset and wanted to fight but just in a more modern way.

Who Can We Really Trust?

Author’s Note: In this essay I will compare two novels and explain how they are similar to one another. Also, how the main characters in each book have similar effects to the people that mean a lot to them.

There will always be that one person you can never trust and there will always be that one person that will never trust you after something horrible has happened to you. Whatever you do it’s hard to trust anyone these days. Just like the main character Allie in the book Breaking Beautiful, By, Jennifer Shaw Wolf and the main character Lisa from the book Dark Secrets, By Elisabeth Chandler both of the characters had a hard time trusting people after both of them lost a loved one to them and have a hard time telling the right people the truth and what they really knew. Lisa and Allie both went through similar situations, finding who to really trust.

Lauren  the main character from the book Dark Secrets  lost her mother when she was still a teenager, they say it’s an accident but there is a good chance that it could have been a murder too.  Now she is living with her Aunt Jule  and her 2 cousins, that is all she has left in her family. As she starts spending time with them she starts to get  suspicious about them and starts investigating in her mother’s death.  Now Lauren is having a hard time trusting people and figuring out what really happened to her mother because she knows more happened to her mother than just an accident.

Just like Lauren, Allie the main character in the book Breaking Beautiful , went through the similar situation, but her boyfriend had died in car accident, but she lost her memory from the accident and can’t remember exactly what had happened. Now the police are investigating in the accident. Just like Lauren, Allie was really upset at the beginning and both of them had a hard time talking to the people that were close to them, but yet could hurt them at the same time.

Even though both of them were really upset after losing a close one to them and choosing the people that they could really trust towards the end  of the stories both of the conclusions in the book end up to be similar. Lauren ends up finding out that her mother death was only just an accident and she just end up drowning in a lake. This effected Lauren a lot in a good way because she finally grained trust back from the people back that she only had in her life now and she could go back to living her life without worrying who to trust.

Unlike Lauren, Allie had a mom, dad, and a bother but she also found out that what had happened to her boyfriend was also an accident, he was an car accident. Ever since they had figured that out this had effect Allie a lot throughout the whole book because this meant to her that her family was always there for by her side. Not only did she realize that her family was  there but her ex-boyfriend has helped her the whole time while she kept pushing him off, but as she found out what had really happened to her boyfriend this affected because she was more positive and happy knowing that people were there for her and she could trust them without feeling alone all the time.

In both of the books similar events happens and shows the feelings of people and what they go through when they lose a close one. They both end up doing the same actions and feel the same way towards others around them. But doesn't matter who is gone if you were close to them it effects you in some way just how it affected Lauren and Allie having a hard time trusting the right people.

How They Really Feel

Author’s Note: In this essay I will use demonstrate my knowledge of text analysis of the book A Child Called it, By Dave Pelzer, and explain how this books relates to the kids in society today.

Every day, everywhere there are kids that are still getting bullied and abused by many other people that they are too afraid to stand up to. This is exactly how Dave, the main character in the book The Child Called It, by, David Pelzer. He was only 9 years old and he had to experience all of these horrible punishments happen to him by his mother, but his mother treated his son more like a slave than a son. This true novel shows the feelings of kids in society today.

One main reason that Dave never really understood what it meant to have the love from a mother, is because he felt as he were a some useless kid that no one cared about, which is exactly how his mother treated him. Even though there are many kids today that have a family, there are kids today that also don’t feel that close to their own mom. They are many kids that have a closer relationship to their dad than they do with their mom. Since the mom are too busy with the work they do at home or have a job they start to forget to spend time with their kids, which ends up with the dad spending more time with the kids. This can affect kids very much because this just makes them feel more useless and they need to feel wanted from both of their parents.

There’re people out there that will do anything to anybody to make them feel like so unwanted. Since they say and do bad things to them, it effects the person so much that they are unable to talk back to them and get any help from anyone, it only causes them to horrible things to themselves. Just how Dave felt when his mother wouldn’t  let him have any food if he was acting too bad and he would just go sneak out of the house and steal food from the store. “I’ve got to finish the dishes on time, otherwise no breakfast for me; and since I didn’t have dinner last night. I have to make sure I get something to eat” pg. 3 I feel like you shouldn’t treat someone so cruel if they don’t  something specific that you wanted to be done, especially if that person is your own son.

Not only has it effect people to make wrong decisions, but it can make them do many other horrible damage to themselves. Dave’s mom would beat him up so badly for everything little bad that thing that he would commit. For example, she would command him to do something and of he wasn’t paying attention she  would get so upset and yell out “If you don’t finish on time, I’m going to kill you!”pg. 85 But, this shows doesn’t affect Dave at all because she said this too many times to him that he just stopped caring. Just how kids feel today, especially teenagers when they called names and having that same insult getting yelled to them, it stick in their head all the time that they stop caring. Not only in themselves, but in school, family, and friends.

Nobody deserves being in this position, having people other people let them down just having calling them names and making them feel for not to care about anything anymore is just not right. Bullies wouldn’t treat other kids like that of the only knew what it would be like to be in their position, but since they don’t understand what it feels like to have someone make fun of you every day  they think it’s totally fine. If Dave’s mom were to be in Dave’s position she would finally understand and feel how horrible and mistreated Dave has been feeling for all of these years. This is what I think the author’s main purpose for this book, put yourself in others shoes and think before you speak and do any action, to really show how you can affect a person if you don’t take the time to stop and think.

Even though this issue will most likely keep happening, the most important thing to remember is that if we are or if we know someone who is getting bullied we need to tell someone, so kids today don’t feel like this today. According to NBCNEWS 1 in 6 students are getting bullied regularly. This is why kids are feeling the need to harm themselves and do things that they wouldn’t typically do. We should try to prevent people from bullying other kids so they can feel better about themselves and not have to go through this type of punishment every day.

Ribbons

China's culture is different than ours  because they believe that bending the girls feet would make them more beautiful and that a rich man would want to marry them, but in our culture the girls over here care more about their hair and face looks like, they don’t care too much about their feet. And we extreme things like out beauty for hair, face, nail, clothes and make-up because there are people that  care  how they look like and they always want to look good so they would do whatever to try to look good and get the latest style in clothes and shoes.

I feel like the way be extreme beauty can be good and bad in both ways because it depends on what they person feels like what they think beauty is, but if they care too much on they look and always waste time getting the right style all the time it can really effect them and they won't really know who they really are then, they just spend too much time impressing other people than themselves. The title for this story signifies pain for the ribbons because  people thought that girls feet would have too be bent in order for them to be pretty and  they would wear ribbons in order for their feet to stay like that and that caused pain for the grandma had to bear while she was younger.

After You My Dear Alphonse response

The story After You My Dear Alphonse by, Shirley Jackson really relates to reverse racism because in the story when Ms. Wilson found out that Bloyd was black she kept treating him a lot of kindness and trying to give him a lot of food to eat and clothes because she thought that his family didn't have much of that and she tried really hard to make him feel like he has all of that. When Ms. Wilson said “And I have a few
dresses that your mother or sister could probably use. Your mother can make them over into lots of things for all of you,” that really shows a good example of reverse racism and the author is really telling us that how you shouldn't treat people that way just because of their skin color and you don’t know what they went through so you can’t judge them just because of what they look like. This doesn't happen in today society as much as it did back then but there are some people even today that will judge people without really knowing them and treat them how they think they should be treated.

How It Changed

Author’s Note: In this essay I will demonstrate my knowledge of text to world by explaining what happens in the book Between Shades of Gray, by, Ruth Sepetys and comparing it to real life as today.

Imagine a bunch of police storming into your house and taking you away, without having any reason and shoving you into a tiny truck with other people and driving away and never being able to see your house ever again. This is what exactly what happens in the book, Between Shades of Gray by, Ruta Sepetys. Lina who is the main character in this book had to go get thrown out of her own house by the police. Every since that day her life completely changed. This novel shows how cruel people would treat other’s back then in the 1940’s and how much people have changed since today.

The main character Lina was like any 15 year old teenage girl that had a great passion for art and she had a wonderful family that cared for her so much. Until one day a group of police stormed into her house and grabbed her family and took them away to Siberia while her father was sent to prison. And now she would do whatever to get her family back together with the help of her mother and younger brother Jonas.

Lina, her mother, and younger brother faced many harsh punishments by the police that had taken them away from their home. For example they would not be able to take showers and were forced to work outside for many hours while they would get very filthy and stinky. Then they would be shoved inside a train with many other people in it so it would get very crowded “I counted the people-forty six packed in a cage on wheels, maybe a rolling coffin” pg.35. This kind of abuse does not happen anymore today, especially since there is a law that states how people can’t barge into your house without your permission and can’t be treated like a slave under any circumstances. Not only that but we have showers in our houses that we are able to take anytime that we desire too and not stay filthy and clean ourselves. The way the police treated them, was very wrong and rude

Another way the police would treat them very horribly is that they would basically treat Lina and all of the other people just like animals. When they would nothing wrong the police would either spit or shoves them to ground and embarrass them in front of everybody. Also, they wouldn’t give them enough food to them and if the police thought they were acting too badly for them wouldn’t give them anything to eat for the rest of the day “No bread today, you ingrate. Get to work!” pg. 313. This just shows on how cruel the police would treat people back in 1941. This has changed dramatically today because all of the polices today just want to help out people make sure they’re safe and doing the right things, the last thing the police would want is someone to get hurt.

The police made life for Lina and her family very difficult and horrible. The way they treated and spoke to them made them very uncomfortable. Throughout the whole novel it shows how poorly treated everyone was treated and the bad guys that were in the book are actually the good guys we have today in society. The police would do anything to make sure people are doing what they are supposed to be doing, there is a lot that has changed since back then to now and it changed it a much better environment.

Video Analysis

When I read the story the A Clean, Well Lighted Place and then saw the movie I feel like in the film the actors did a really nice with their facial expression. Just how they young waiter would get really upset on how the old  man wouldn’t leave and just sit there and keep drinking. He did a very well on being upset and annoyed at him. Just like the younger waiter did really good with facial expression same with the older waiter who was actually defending the old man. It seemed like the older waiter was getting teary eyes every time the young waiter would say something disrespectful about the old man. Also, the music that they played in the background went really well with the scenes they shot. Especially at the beginning of the film it had a little creepy tone to it and that made me kind of think that something in the story is going to be wrong or something unusual is going to happen.

When we watched the video I did enjoy it. I liked how they characters interacted with one another and had different points of view on one another. Also, the actors did well on playing their parts and getting really into character. But, I didn’t enjoy the place that this scene took place, even though it was supposed to be a clean café, I feel like it should have been a little more such as, more color and bigger and the camera should of viewed it the we could be able to see the whole café. The way they showed it made it seem like a very dull place and made the story a little less exciting

A Clean, Well-lighted Place Hemingway response

"We are of two different kinds[IA1] ,"

[IA1]I think this is a good quote for the story because it really explains how both of their points on the old man and how one get the old man and the younger one doesn't care as much

"You have youth, confidence, and a job," the older waiter said."You have everything." [IA1]

[IA1]I think this really shows on the point of view on the older waiter because he might have gone through some things like the old man has and that’s why he is defending him

"You should have killed yourself last week[IA1] ,

[IA1]This just shows how selfish the waiter is and doesn’t care about the old man what so ever

Those Feelings You Get

Author’s Note:  I will be analyzing the poem “Summer Grass” by, Carl Sandburg and talking about what figurative language he used. I will also explain what this poem reminds me of.

Everybody has emotion and feelings, either there good or bad everyone gets some sort of feeling. In the poem “Summer Grass” by, Carl Sandburg, the way he wrote this poem was as if the grass has feelings just like us and will do whatever to get what it wants.

In the poem he used a lot of  figurative language such as  personification and hyperbole to really show the readers how the grass and rain were looking and feeling like. He mainly used personification  throughout his poem since he is talking about the feelings of the grass. In this stanza “Summer grass aches and whispers” this shows how what the grass is doing and feeling. This is a good example of personification because he is saying how grass is aching and whispers and since grass don’t literally do that and people can this shows how he is saying the object as if had the feelings if a person.  The author’s tone is really mysterious by the way he describes the rain and the movements of the grass makes you wonder of the rain and how it slowly comes down.

Since the tone is mysterious he also added hyperbole in his poem to really show and describe the way the grass and the rain are feeling so he could exaggerate to put a vivid picture in the readers mind .  When he said “It wants something: it calls and sings; it pours” the grass can’t literally call or sing,  what he is really trying to say in here is how the grass is wanting something so he just emphasis of saying the grass is calling and singing to show it how the grass is in need of water. That’s show how that would be an example of a hyperbole. The author’s tone really impacts this because it sets the whole mood for this poem by being mysterious and making the readers really think about the poem.

The overall impact the figurative language had on this piece can really show a clear picture in the readers head. The way he used the language really helped to express  what his meaning was in this poem. The way the author explained how the grass wants rain that just makes the poem a little gloomy because when we think of rain we think of a sad day and not exciting and just putting rain in the  poem can really  effect the overall tone because the poem won’t be as happy and cheerful and even though it might have a cheerful tone to the title they always have some sort of twist in the story.

Since this story may have a twist to it, this poem reminds me of how little kids act today. Just as he said in the poem “it calls and sings; it pours out wished to the overhead stars”.  To me this is saying how it is pretty much whining to the sky to have rain pour down upon it. Just how kids will keep on whining and do whatever It takes  to their parents  to get whatever they want like a toy or candy. Just how the grass loves the rain, that’s the same feeling the kids have about their candy and toys.

Even though the poem “Summer Grass” may sounds like a fun and cheerful poem, it really changed the meaning when he wrote about it. Since he used a lot of  imagery and hyperbole in his poem to really show and express to the readers on how the grass really does have feelings and when it gets what it wants it gets happy as a child with mountains of candy.

The Ransom Of Red Cheif

This story is about a young boy named Bill got got kidnapped by these 2 guy and they decided to write a letter to his father to pay them money and the father wanted the kidnappers to pay him money for kidnapping his son. But, in this story I think the most important quote is "He's all right now," says Bill, rolling up his trousers and examining some bruises on his shins. I think this quote is important because this just shows how tough the little boy is and he's not going to easy to fool. And the kidnappers are already thinking of not keeping  him anymore because they didn't think he would be this hard and challenging to handle.

My Love

Author's Note: I wrote a parody of  the poem This Is Just To Say by: William Carlos. But, In my poem you will see how much love I  have for someone.

I love you
More than anyone
You’re my life
I don’t know what I would do without you

All day
All night
I think
about you

I love cuddling with you
When I'm down
Your always there for me
I love my poodle

Other Dreams

Author’s Note: In this piece I will explain how the main character, Janie dreams are different to other people’s dreams and compare how they are different.

People always have dreams whenever they go to sleep, either a good dream or a bad dream. And then there are some people that don’t even remember their dream at all and say they didn't have a dream. But, unlike Janie from the book Dreams, by Lisa McMann, when it comes to her dreams she has a different way of dreaming. People usually get tired and go to sleep and have many dreams but, in Jane’s case, the way she dreams is very different than the people do today.

Janie was a normal teenage girl going to school she had a boyfriend and she was loving her life. Until she found out that she was a dream catcher. That changed her life completely, she wouldn't be able to have her own dreams, whenever someone near her is sleeping she automatically passes out and gets sucked into their dream.  Janie was able to see anybody’s dream if they were by her sleeping . But this affected her a lot because when she would get up from the dream  she would get up and feel all loopy and her vision would get blurry, but while she is sleeping people would see her acting all crazy like her boyfriend said  “ I thought you were dying, you shake, you spasm, your eyes roll back in your head” pg 94.  She would act like she was possessed while she was sleeping. And she couldn't do anything about it.

Later throughout the book Janie finds out that what she has is a gift that many people don’t get. When she found this out she wasn't too thrilled about it because she would feel horrible while she was in a dream. But, she finds out that while she is in someone’s dreams she is able to control it, she is able to pause, rewind, and fast forward the dream. But she knew that to do that she really needed to focus on the dream and not think about anything else. We aren't able to do that, our dreams just come naturally we can’t control how our dreams are.

This book reminds me of how different Janie dreams are to the people dreams today. The way Janie gets dreams is very different from us we are able to just lay down, get tired and fall asleep. But Janie needs someone else by her that is already sleeping for her to fall asleep. Not only that but she acts all crazy and never can get real sleep like the other people. It’s so easy for us to go to sleep and we don’t freak out as much like she does. When we wake up we are just tired  but when she wakes up “she is shaking only slightly, from adrenaline more than anything”. pg 164.

Even though Janie dreams are way more intense and different than the people dreams today. There are some similar side affects both of us have while we are dreaming. But, for Janie not having her own dream and seeing other people dreams would be a little creepy and that would just feel uncomfortable to see. Now she is stuck with this gift for the rest of her life and never be able to have her own dream beside everyone else’s.

Dream Analysis

Some types of figurative language that are in this piece are simile and hyperbole. I feel like the author used mostly hyperbole and simile in this piece because I think the author really wanted to express in his writing that going for your dreams is what people should really and he wanted to compare how boring things would be if you don’t try like he said “Life is a barren field frozen with snow” Not only that but also he was saying how there is something that is holding the people the back from doing what they want. Like he said in his poem “Hold fast to dreams For when dreams go”. This type of figurative  language really goes well with this poem because the author is really trying to tell the readers how they should go for their dreams and he really compares the dreams to other deceptive language. The way the author write this poem was really calm and he didn’t use any capital letters or popping punctuation that would make the reader too hesitant or feel uncomfortable he writes it like he makes the reader to have something to think about.  When the reader reads this piece. Since the author used mostly metaphor and smiles, the scenes are calm and really describes how empty your life would be if you don’t do anything.

The Affect On Innocent People

Author’s Note: In this piece will explain what the theme of the book I’ve recently read and how it affects the characters. And I’ll also be explaining how this theme reminds me of another book.

Everybody has that one memory from their childhood that they will never forget. Either it was a good memory or a bad one it will always stay with them. Well for Bruno, from the book The Boy In The  Striped Pajamas, By, John Boyce, he never had the best childhood he would of wanted. Bruno was a 9 year old kid that went through a lot during his time. He had father that told him that his friend was pretty much meant nothing to them. Throughout the book the main theme that is being told is the affect on innocent people.

Bruno was only 9 years old when he moved to his new house, which we was very upset about. As the moment he stepped into the house he already hated it. He was very upset that he had to leave his friends and everyone behind him at his old house in Berlin. But, as a couple months went by meet a kid around his age named Shmuel, but he meet him he was on the other side of him, Shmuel  was on the other side of the fence. They would meet up every day and talk to each other and they really go to know one another.

For a while now Bruno was meeting up with Shmuel without his parents knowing. He was too afraid of what his parents might do or say to him if he told him that he was meeting a kid that lived on the other side of the fence. Bruno was always curious on why there was a fence between them, he wanted to play with Shmuel l and hang out with him. As Bruno as more curious he decided to ask his dad why there was a fence between us and the other people. And without even thinking his father  said “ Well there not people at all” As his father said this broke Bruno’s heart, this affected him a lot because he wondered what his father meant by that. And all he could think about was how his father just said that his friend is not even a person and he is the only reason why he likes it here.

The theme in this book reminds me to the theme in the book The Child Called it, by, Dave Pelzer , because in the book there is a young boy named Dave that wouldn’t do anything wrong or bad , but his mother would beat him up all the time. He was just an innocent little boy that would get hurt without really knowing what he did wrong and this affected him a lot because he just didn’t know how to act in front of his own mother anymore. Just how Bruno father judge the people on the other side of the fence without even getting to know them who they really are. Both of the mom and dad in the book would affect the innocent  people.

There are people still out there that judge people with even knowing them. But, there are also some people that even say it to their faces but people deal with their pain differently and it happened to everyone not just a certain group of people. The book The Boy in the Striped Pajama shows a good theme on how the affect on innocent people can really mean something.

How His Life Changed

Author’s Note: In this essay I will explain how Dave changes throughout the book and what he does in order for him to change. Also, how the way he is changing  effects the other people around him.

There’re people still out that desperately need help and need people to talk too. But, they are too afraid to get any help from anyone now a day. That is exactly how Dave the main character  in the book The Child It , by Dave Pelzer, feels . Dave would get abused everyday by his mother for every little mistake he would commit and she would also make him starve if he was too bad for her. He would just sit there quietly and wouldn't say a word. But, throughout the book he becomes more confident and learns how to stand up on his own.

At the beginning of the book, Dave mother’s would treat him like a slave than her own son. Dave would constantly get beat up by his mother and he wouldn’t say any anything about to anyone. The teachers at his school would notice his bruises and cuts on his body but he knew he just had to lie and say how he was the one that hurt himself. But, as he saw the way his father was acting and treating him more like a real son he wanted to be treated like that every day. Since he wanted to be treated like that he decided it was time to talk back to his mother and try to tell her he doesn’t like getting beat up.

Every time Dave would talk try to talk back to his mother this affected his mother more because this would just make her more furious  and want to beat him up more. But, Dave just couldn’t take it anymore with all of the beating by his mother so he just stopped talking back to her mother. Later throughout the book as people noticed how Dave’s been really quiet and sad all the time and he saw all the teachers there for him trying to help, he felt as he actually he had people who cared to him and wasn’t invisible this effected him a lot and gave him more confidence to speak up. He finally told everything to the teachers, how he was treated so horribly and how we wouldn’t eat for days.

As soon as he told them everything the teachers took this to court and he would be sent to an adoption center. When he figured out that he wouldn’t be living with his mother anymore he felt scared and confused at the same time. He knew his mother would get really upset with him and somehow come find and take him back. But, ever since he’s been in the adaptation center he never been happier. Having people talk to him and treat him with love, he never knew that talking to people about his life would make him feel so much better.

Dave reminds me of the main character Bruno  in the book The Boy in the Striped Pajamas  by, John Boyne, because in that story Bruno meets a new friend when he moves into their new house. But, he is too scared to tell his parents about his friend that he meet. He thought that his parents would never let him see him again or even leave the house. Just how Dave felt when he wanted to talk back to his mother he was too scared to do anything he was afraid that his mother would so something horrible to him. Both of them were scared of their own parents and both had a feeling that their parents would do something bad to do them that would affect very much.

Since this book is based on a true story, this story  was meant for people that has gone or is going through the same situation as Dave. The main purpose I think he wrote this book was that if you’re going through a rough time the most important thing is to just talk to someone and tell them what you’re feeling and just let it all out. If Dave wasn’t brave and confident enough to talk to the teachers and tell them what was going on with him he would of never been sent to adoption center and he would still be living with his mother.  But, he knew that it was time for a change and couldn’t keep living like this so he finally spoke out.

London

There are times when I see something and get that feeling that I would want  that really badly but then that feeling goes away. But, the second I saw pictures of London and saw all of the tourist attraction I wanted to go there so badly and there wasn't a time when I didn't want to go there.I would love to go on a trip to London someday. I always wanted to go there and see all of the different tourist attractions they have. One place I really want to go is the London eye. I want to go on there so badly and being able to see all of London and all of the lights they have and It would just be so much fun .Not only that but their lifestyle is so different there that I would want to see the  people and how they do stuff also how I want to ride in a car from there because their style of car is really different than out and I want to see how it feels to be in a different type of car. Another place where I really want to go is in those little red telephone booth those seem so cool and I just want to go in there can call my someone and just see how it feels because you always see them in movies and being in there feel so awesome. Also, just staying there and try to life their style for a even a little bit would be an amazing experience for me I would never forget.

A Different Point Of View

Authors Note: In this piece I will explain how different point of views affects the reader and how the story would change if it was told from a different character in the story.

Books are only told from one point of view either from the first person or from  the third person. And we wonder how other characters in the book feel from their point of view. The book Dark Secrets By Elizabeth Chandler has a first person point of view and it’s about how Laura, the main character is going through a hard time after her mom died and she feels like the only people she has left in her life which were her aunt and her 2 cousins were  going against her and making her feel she’s all alone. This book can be told from many different point of views from different characters.

The point of view is originally told from the main character and how they see the story through their eyes. Just like Laura and how it was told from her point of view. She felt as one of her cousins was responsible for  murdering her mother  and she knew that there was something going on and she didn’t know about. She started to see how everyone was being unusual in front of her and that affected her to act a little strange which caused her aunt and cousins to think that she was going crazy. But this would change if it was told from another point of view.

From a different point of view you can see how the characters see the story. For example Laura’s cousin would see Laura going a little crazy and not acting like herself , they thought she was the one that needed help. Not only that but they thought that she wasn’t over her mother’s murder . They would also think that she was seeing things and imaging things because she would receive these notes that would scare her way to much that made her starting to act different and she got an to an accident and thought that  someone was there out to kill her but it was just something on the road that made her car go off and hit the side of the road.

Mostly books are told from the main character point of view. But, when the readers are reading books they also have a point of view. When they are reading a book that has a twist in it the readers think that the one person is better than the other since It’s based on the characters point of view. that’s why in most books the main character has only their point of view and that’s why the readers would have the same point of view as the main character in the book.

Any book you read there can many different point of view from the different character in the book and since most of the book have the main character as the person telling the story that’s affects the reader also because they have the same point of view as the main character in the book. Just how the readers would feel if they read Dark Secrets

Was He The Slave Or The Son?

Author’s Note: The book Child Called It is based on a true story by Dave Pelzer, is about a young boy who would get abused by his mother for every mistake he would commit. And I will compare this story to real life and also what this story reminds me of.

The story The Child Called It by Dave Pelzer is about a young boy named Dave, who would get a abused by his mother for every little mistake he would make. Dave would not eat for days and wouldn’t get any proper sleep and even worse he never experienced how it feels to have a mother love you. This book is based off a true story and this story relates to many people around the world that has experienced the same pain Dave went  through during his childhood..

Many kids around the world experienced  similar things to what Dave had to go through. Dave’s mom treated him more like a slave than a son. For example, when Dave would be in the kitchen doing the dished and took a little break and his mom found out that he stopped for a little bit his mom would keep hitting him until he started it again. Also,  Dave got punished when he would he would try to steal food from the store because his mom would never feed him food because he was always bad, but if he was good the only food he would receive were the  left overs . Dave’s mom had him sleep on a old wood floor with no blanket he wouldn't get any proper sleep in days.

Even though Dave was just a little kid, he got treated by his mother the way that people would treat their slaves. There’re slavery that still goes on around today too. Just like Dave, slaves were forced to do certain task that would be painful and not flattering to them. If they would try to do something sneaky they would get punished for it. Also, slaves would have to sleep in one small shack with no beds or furniture.

Not only does this book remind me of slaves , but also, the teenagers even today who get bullied and beat up all the time. Since Dave couldn’t tell anyone how he would get all these bruises and scratches his body it’s just how teenagers  are today and how they don’t feel comfortable to talking to anyone about what they are going through and feel like they are all alone. Some days Dave thought he would be gone someday and was just wanted  to get it over with it. Even with the teenagers today they just want to finish their life by doing something horrible to them so they won’t go through any bullying or hate they receive.

Dave was just a little kid when he experienced all of this and this is  about the same troubles slaves have gone through during the 1800. Not only did he get pain physically but even emotionally too, he never understood the feeling of having a mother love you. Therefore,  he had to do some crazy things in order to survive or something to get rid of some of the pain he would get.Just like all of those other people had to do who has been in similar situations like Dave.
