Judging People

Author's Note: Many kids are judged by their appearance and people don't know what might have happened to them. Then they start to lower their expectations but, just because some people are a little different than others doesn't mean that they can't do as much as others.

Everyday there are  kids that are bullied, insulted, and judged by their appearance. Just like Martin from the book, Face by, Benjamin Zephaniah, he was a typical teenage boy. He was going to school, he hung out with his friends, but that all changed after he was in a terrible car crash. This book gives a good message to readers to treat others the way you want  to be treated.

Martin was just a regular teenage boy that was going to school. He wouldn't get in a lot of trouble but when he would it would usually be with his friends which they are known as "The Gang of Three". His and his friends would always hang out and play pranks on other people. Martin wouldn’t get into serious trouble or situations. However one day after he got into a terrible car crash his life completely changed after that.

There so many people that judge people with even knowing them or what might have what happened to them and that’s how most of the people treated Martin.. After the accident Martin’s face completely changed his face was bright red in some places and had  brown spots also white bits that looked like flesh but with no skin. When people saw the way Martin looked they gave weird looks and his friends became more distant from him. When people get into accidents If they are going have some injuries but they can't help the way they turn out to look like at the end. If I was Martin’s friends  I wouldn’t ignore him just because of the way he looks I  would help and support him.

While Martin was in the hospital he had a gymnastics competition to practice for and after he got released from the hospital he practiced non-stop. He wouldn’t let the way he looked and the people making fun him get in his way. I can relate to Martin in this situation because I bet there are some people that  judge me just because of the way I dress, but I didn't let the way people look at me from stop me from my beliefs. Just like Martin even though his face was not normal he still accomplished to get 3rd place and after losing all of his friends and listening to those people that made fun of him he still worked hard and practiced for what he believed in and didn’t let anyone get in the way of that. Just because some people are a little different than others that still means that they should do whatever they want and should get the same amount of respect like everybody else.

  1. I totally agree. People are judged by their outsides and not who they really are and to treat them you want to be in return, which is why I really like this piece. I think you id a really good job.
