My Love

Author's Note: I wrote a parody of  the poem This Is Just To Say by: William Carlos. But, In my poem you will see how much love I  have for someone.

I love you
More than anyone
You’re my life
I don’t know what I would do without you

All day
All night
I think
about you

I love cuddling with you
When I'm down
Your always there for me
I love my poodle

Other Dreams

Author’s Note: In this piece I will explain how the main character, Janie dreams are different to other people’s dreams and compare how they are different.

People always have dreams whenever they go to sleep, either a good dream or a bad dream. And then there are some people that don’t even remember their dream at all and say they didn't have a dream. But, unlike Janie from the book Dreams, by Lisa McMann, when it comes to her dreams she has a different way of dreaming. People usually get tired and go to sleep and have many dreams but, in Jane’s case, the way she dreams is very different than the people do today.

Janie was a normal teenage girl going to school she had a boyfriend and she was loving her life. Until she found out that she was a dream catcher. That changed her life completely, she wouldn't be able to have her own dreams, whenever someone near her is sleeping she automatically passes out and gets sucked into their dream.  Janie was able to see anybody’s dream if they were by her sleeping . But this affected her a lot because when she would get up from the dream  she would get up and feel all loopy and her vision would get blurry, but while she is sleeping people would see her acting all crazy like her boyfriend said  “ I thought you were dying, you shake, you spasm, your eyes roll back in your head” pg 94.  She would act like she was possessed while she was sleeping. And she couldn't do anything about it.

Later throughout the book Janie finds out that what she has is a gift that many people don’t get. When she found this out she wasn't too thrilled about it because she would feel horrible while she was in a dream. But, she finds out that while she is in someone’s dreams she is able to control it, she is able to pause, rewind, and fast forward the dream. But she knew that to do that she really needed to focus on the dream and not think about anything else. We aren't able to do that, our dreams just come naturally we can’t control how our dreams are.

This book reminds me of how different Janie dreams are to the people dreams today. The way Janie gets dreams is very different from us we are able to just lay down, get tired and fall asleep. But Janie needs someone else by her that is already sleeping for her to fall asleep. Not only that but she acts all crazy and never can get real sleep like the other people. It’s so easy for us to go to sleep and we don’t freak out as much like she does. When we wake up we are just tired  but when she wakes up “she is shaking only slightly, from adrenaline more than anything”. pg 164.

Even though Janie dreams are way more intense and different than the people dreams today. There are some similar side affects both of us have while we are dreaming. But, for Janie not having her own dream and seeing other people dreams would be a little creepy and that would just feel uncomfortable to see. Now she is stuck with this gift for the rest of her life and never be able to have her own dream beside everyone else’s.

Dream Analysis

Some types of figurative language that are in this piece are simile and hyperbole. I feel like the author used mostly hyperbole and simile in this piece because I think the author really wanted to express in his writing that going for your dreams is what people should really and he wanted to compare how boring things would be if you don’t try like he said “Life is a barren field frozen with snow” Not only that but also he was saying how there is something that is holding the people the back from doing what they want. Like he said in his poem “Hold fast to dreams For when dreams go”. This type of figurative  language really goes well with this poem because the author is really trying to tell the readers how they should go for their dreams and he really compares the dreams to other deceptive language. The way the author write this poem was really calm and he didn’t use any capital letters or popping punctuation that would make the reader too hesitant or feel uncomfortable he writes it like he makes the reader to have something to think about.  When the reader reads this piece. Since the author used mostly metaphor and smiles, the scenes are calm and really describes how empty your life would be if you don’t do anything.

The Affect On Innocent People

Author’s Note: In this piece will explain what the theme of the book I’ve recently read and how it affects the characters. And I’ll also be explaining how this theme reminds me of another book.

Everybody has that one memory from their childhood that they will never forget. Either it was a good memory or a bad one it will always stay with them. Well for Bruno, from the book The Boy In The  Striped Pajamas, By, John Boyce, he never had the best childhood he would of wanted. Bruno was a 9 year old kid that went through a lot during his time. He had father that told him that his friend was pretty much meant nothing to them. Throughout the book the main theme that is being told is the affect on innocent people.

Bruno was only 9 years old when he moved to his new house, which we was very upset about. As the moment he stepped into the house he already hated it. He was very upset that he had to leave his friends and everyone behind him at his old house in Berlin. But, as a couple months went by meet a kid around his age named Shmuel, but he meet him he was on the other side of him, Shmuel  was on the other side of the fence. They would meet up every day and talk to each other and they really go to know one another.

For a while now Bruno was meeting up with Shmuel without his parents knowing. He was too afraid of what his parents might do or say to him if he told him that he was meeting a kid that lived on the other side of the fence. Bruno was always curious on why there was a fence between them, he wanted to play with Shmuel l and hang out with him. As Bruno as more curious he decided to ask his dad why there was a fence between us and the other people. And without even thinking his father  said “ Well there not people at all” As his father said this broke Bruno’s heart, this affected him a lot because he wondered what his father meant by that. And all he could think about was how his father just said that his friend is not even a person and he is the only reason why he likes it here.

The theme in this book reminds me to the theme in the book The Child Called it, by, Dave Pelzer , because in the book there is a young boy named Dave that wouldn’t do anything wrong or bad , but his mother would beat him up all the time. He was just an innocent little boy that would get hurt without really knowing what he did wrong and this affected him a lot because he just didn’t know how to act in front of his own mother anymore. Just how Bruno father judge the people on the other side of the fence without even getting to know them who they really are. Both of the mom and dad in the book would affect the innocent  people.

There are people still out there that judge people with even knowing them. But, there are also some people that even say it to their faces but people deal with their pain differently and it happened to everyone not just a certain group of people. The book The Boy in the Striped Pajama shows a good theme on how the affect on innocent people can really mean something.
